I seem to remember it did - the the lower levels of the school even seemed to mimic this, which made them seem a little less clinical and more futuristic than they might've been. On the other hand, I may be completely wrong. Still; I'd like to think I'd get a better sense of the film itself if all these design elements were followed through with coherence. At the very least, it would probably make a stronger and more recognisable (European spelling, all) impression upon the audience as a whole. Off the top of my head I can only think of Tomb Raider matching up. Though I'm sure there are many more.
